Cumming City Government and Police Department

The City of Cumming has a traditional form of city government with a Mayor and a 5-member City Council who are elected officials, and the positions of City Administrator, Assistant City Administrator and City Clerk are filled through a selective process. City Hall is located at 100 Main Street, (770) 781-2010. The offices of the Department of Planning and Zoning, (770) 781-2024, are in City Hall and this important city agency regulates construction and land use in Cumming in order to protect the life, safety and general welfare of all citizens and preserve Cumming’s natural resources. The Department of Utilities, (770) 781-2020, also located in City Hall operates over 600 miles of potable water lines that deliver the highest quality drinking water to all residents.

Recreation and Parks, Fairgrounds, and Streets Departments

Cumming’s Recreation and Parks Department, 410 Pilgrim Mill Road, (770) 781-2030, provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities for residents including sports programs, aerobic exercise and dance classes at Cumming City Park, and swimming lessons at Cumming City Park Pool. The Fairgrounds Department at 235 Castleberry Road, (770) 781-349, is responsible for managing the Cumming Fairgrounds and operating the Cumming Country Fair and Festival that has been held at the Cumming Fairgrounds each year since 1995. The Street Department, 301 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, (770) 781-2019, has the responsibility for beautifying the city with eye catching landscapes and maintaining the historical character of the City of Cumming.

The Police Department

With 15 full time police officers providing the highest level of experience and professionalism 24 hours per day, seven days per week, the Cumming Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all residents, visitors, homes and businesses in Cumming. Within the Police Department are the Uniform Patrol Division, the Detective Division and the Support Division. Police officers patrol the city constantly to prevent crime before it happens, and officers interact with local citizens and business owners to maintain safety, security, and the high quality of life in Cumming.
