Cumming Dining, Nightlife, and Music

Residents of Cumming are fortunate to be able to enjoy a hometown theater and dining experience right in the heart of historic downtown Cumming. The same building that was home to the Cumming Public School in 1923 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 houses both the Cumming Playhouse theater and Tam's Backstage restaurant.

Tam's Backstage, 215 Ingram Avenue, (678) 455-8310, offers a creative blend of American cuisines spiced with northern Italian flair in dishes like their award winning Three Sausage Creole Gumbo, Canadian Cove mussels steamed in white wines, herbs and a lemon butter sauce, Chicken Santa Margherita, mixed seafood grill, and desserts such as Actor’s Guilt pie and key lime pie.

Specializing in fresh local fish caught daily, Norman's Landing at 365 Peachtree Parkway in Cumming, (770) 886-0100, is known as one of the best seafood restaurants in Georgia. Seafood specialties like batter fried catfish fingers, raw, steamed or fried oysters, grilled, Cajun, or batter fried shrimp and scallops, crabmeat cocktail and 12 oz. twin lobster tails are augmented by beef, ribs and chicken, accompanied with homemade cornbread and yeast rolls, and complimented with homemade cakes and pies or banana pudding for dessert.

Eclectic American style cuisine is very popular in Cumming

Three local favorites are O'Charley's Restaurant, 920 Buford Road, (770) 888-3880, which specializes in hand-cut aged steaks, fresh chicken and seafood, fresh salads with special recipe salad dressings, homemade yeast rolls, and O'Charley's caramel pie for dessert; Summits Wayside Tavern, 525 Lake Center Parkway, (770) 886-4374, featuring creative mixtures of beef, fish, chicken and vegetables seasoned with a unique blend of 23 different seasonings, plus an extensive beer and wine list; and the Atlanta Bread Company, 908 Buford Highway, (770) 265-2000, which serves hot breakfast sandwiches, grilled Panini’s, and many other creative American style dishes made with freshly baked breads.

Italian and Greek cuisine has been the specialty at Giorgio's Restaurant, 558 Lakeland Plaza, (770) 781-4525, since 1991. Giorgio’s also features an extensive take-out menu and a catering service. A wide variety of Chinese, Japanese Sushi and Thai dishes are available at Pacific Spice Restaurant, 5485 Bethelview Road, (770) 886-4881. The Longhorn Steakhouse at 925 Marketplace Boulevard, (678) 947-4228, is part of the chain of Longhorn Steakhouse family style restaurants and their menu includes beef, chicken, pork and seafood grilled to order, barbecued ribs, thick juicy hamburgers and fresh salads.

Nightlife, music and entertainment

Cumming is the kind of friendly town where even though residents can easily find all kinds of interesting nightlife and entertainment in Atlanta, they are inclined to spend their evenings relaxing at home with their families or at local establishments socializing with their friends. Beef O'Brady's at 2619 Freedom Parkway, (770) 781-8803, is a popular Irish neighborhood pub and sports bar that features satellite TV programming of sports events. La Cazuela Mexican Restaurant at 914 Marketplace Boulevard, 770-947-0718, serves signature margaritas and authentic Mexican cuisine with live entertainment every night.
