Cumming Education
Students who live within the incorporated City of Cumming or in the unincorporated areas of Cumming attend public schools in the Forsyth County Schools system. Established in 1860, Forsyth County Schools is not only one of the oldest free public school systems in Georgia, it is also one of the best. Excellence in education has always been the school system standard and even though the system serves over 32,000 students and adds more than 2,000 new students each year, class sizes are relatively low with student teacher ratios averaging 15 to1. All city and county residents may use the Cumming branch of the Forsyth County Library at 585 Dahlonega Road with convenient access to 159,521 books, 7,195 audio tapes and 9,415 video tapes.
In addition to a full curriculum of academic studies, Forsyth County schools also emphasize the fine arts, music, health and physical education. Standard academic test scores are consistently among the highest in Georgia and individual schools in Cumming have received numerous state and national recognitions for educational excellence. As part of the school district’s cooperative, constructive and interactive policy, school administrators hold themselves accountable to parents, students and the community.
