The hills of Cumming Georgia are alive . . . with Native American dance, music, and Native American culture. Home to one of Chief James Vann’s taverns, and the Heritage and Indian Villages exhibits, Cumming Fairgrounds is hosting the 2009 Sawnee Indian Festival and Rendezvous on May 2-3.
Come for a day, or spend the entire weekend learning about Native American culture and fellowship, including representation from numerous tribes . . . Cherokee, Lakota Sioux, Creek, Caddo, Ojibwa, Cree, Apache, Aztec, and others.
Visit an Indian encampment, and walk through an authentic Plains Indian Tipi. Observe and learn about several primitive Native American skills and crafts like, flint napping, tepee construction, earthen cooking and hide tanning. Several showcase programs featuring the topics of wild animals, birds, and native languages will also be conducted throughout this educational and entertaining cultural event.
Enjoy the colorful Native American dancers, storytellers, and native flute and drum music, in addition to shopping for native arts & crafts.
There will also be plenty of delicious native foods to enjoy Buffalo burgers, Indian fry bread, gator tail, Indian tacos, and roasted corn in addition to hamburgers and corndogs. Or back a picnic lunch.

Directions: take GA 400 North to Exit 15 (Bald Ridge Marina Rd.) and turn left. Continue straight through four traffic lights. Bear left at Hwy. 20 (East). At the first light, turn right on to Castleberry Road. The Fairgrounds is on the right.
