A Bit of History: This former first public school in Cumming once served grades 1-11, offering for the first time a Forsyth County, High School Diploma in Cumming, Georgia in 1923. However, shortly after it opened, the school was damaged by a fire and did not reopen until after it was rebuilt in 1927. In the years shortly before the City of Cumming acquired the building in 1999 from the Forsyth County BOE in conjunction with the Historical Society of Forsyth County, it was being used to house the Forsyth County Board of Education.
